Hat Sizes

Except in one or two cases, no indication has been given of hat sizes (either male or female) on the basis that most hats can be persuaded to fit most people. In the case of Victorian/Edwardian women’s hats they would be sitting on top of lots of hair, and many of the 1930s/40s hats are little more than what is often called a "confection" (ie. there isn’t very much of them). Should a borrowed hat prove to be completely the wrong size, we will try to find a suitable replacement for it. Crowns cannot be enlarged, but can always be made smaller by the addition of a strip of felt or quilting stuck inside.
